Katarina Wit began skating at five. Then, her talent were evident and she was invited to Karl-Marx-Stadt's special school. The school where she was enrolled she got to know her coach Jutta Muler. Witt made her breakthrough in 1982, after she was second in her first World Championships at Copenhagen. Then, she was dominating the sport with her elegance and grace. Olympic triumph Katarina Wit won gold in women's ice skating at the Sarajevo Winter Games 1984 after a highly competitive and intense contest. In a more competitive competition, four years later, Witt won her gold medal. The free skate she took was an unbeatable loss. However, the gold medal was awarded to her because of her performances at both mandatory figures (short program) and mandatory figures. Witt became the women's first repeatedly crowned winner of figure skating, following Sonja Henie. Hall of Fame Witt had a great deal of success as an acting career, but she returned to figure skating to participate in the Lillehammer Winter Games of 1994. While she was not able to win a medal, Witt delighted her fans despite coming in seventh. Witt was elected to the World Figure Skating Hall of Fame in the year 1995.
